Paul sounds very harsh here as he tells Titus to rebuke false teachers. Paul seems to think that’s these false teachings are incredibly destructive to the church. What are some modern examples of these types of teachings?


How can we be strong on good doctrine and rebuke false teaching, while still being gracious and loving towards sinners?


Verse 15 says, “To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.” What is Paul getting at here? Does this mean we can do whatever we want as long as we ask forgiveness or our conscience doesn’t bother us?


What is the connect between knowing God and obeying God? How to we maintain that salvation is by grace though faith while still insisting that christians act like christians?

Contentment


(Read Matthew 6:19-21) If someone looked at your bank statement, what would they say you love?

As Americans we are very privet about our finances, why is this and how does it reflect our hearts? 

(Read Ecclesiastes 5:8-20) What does contentment look like in your life or what should contentment look like in your life? Is ambition wrong for Christians? Should Christians not try to move up the ladder, or do bigger and better things in their career?  

(Matthew 19:16-23) Pastor mentioned that we don’t have to give away everything we own, why do we often caveat Jesus’ statement to the Rich young ruler? What if Jesus really meant what he said, do we trust him with our riches?

1 Timothy 6:1-6


(6:1-2) We don’t like this passage much. Why didn’t  Paul just say “slavey is bad, free all the slaves.”

(6:4-5) Do you know someone like this? Someone who loves to debate? How can we be on the look out for false teaching without being overly suspicious and always looking for an argument or a disagreement.  


Genesis 2:15 what does this tell us about work? Exodus 20:9-11- what does this tell us about work but also rest?


What does contentment look like in our lives? What does our culture teach about contentment? How can we learn/grow contentment?

2 Timothy 3:13-17

1. What is your story? Who in your life  taught you about about Jesus and who has taught you the most about scripture? (2 Timothy 3:14)

2. Research shows there is a serious lack of Biblical understanding in our country, even in our churches. (Check out this link for some of the Current research https://thestateoftheology.com/ ) 2 Timothy 3:15 points out the importance of teaching God’s word to the next generation. How are you training up the next generation (your kids/grandkids/teacher/coach/youth group/children’s church/KHM) in God’s word?

3. Pastor noted that the purpose of the lighting rod is to “take the hit to protect the barn.” How can we “take the hit” to Protect our families? Our community? Our church?

4. Pastor made the Statement “ you don’t have to clean yourself up to come to God, but after you are forgiven its time to clean yourself up.” How do we stop sinning? What are some strategies to help us stop sinning? What are the good things we should be doing? (James 4:17).
